Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown Raises More Than $50,000 for Canvas Health

Some of the area’s finest chefs came together on October 9 to raise money for the programs and services of Canvas Health. The third annual Valley Vine & Harvest Throwdown, a competitive food and wine event celebrating the cuisine of the St. Croix River Valley, raised more than $50,000.

Chefs from Domacin, Lake Elmo Inn, Luna Rossa Wine Bar, Marx Fusion Bistro, Phil’s Tara Hideaway, San Pedro Café and Smalley’s Caribbean Barbeque participated in the event. Chef Brad Nordeen took the honor of Top Chef with his food/wine entre: duck confit & Roquefort in phyllo with dried cherries, duck prosciutto, butternut squash and maple glaze served with 2009 Cèdre Héritage Malbec.

Thanks to all volunteers and supporters, including celebrity hosts Karin and Phil Housley, for making this entertaining event so successful. Proceeds of this popular event help support the programs and services of Canvas Health and the more than 8,600 local residents who struggle with mental health, chemical health, and domestic and sexual abuse.
