Sheri Vrieze

Manager of Chemical Health Services

Professional Philosophy

Treatment for clients must encompass the whole person and their environment. It is about meeting them in the reality where they perceive themselves to be, focusing and listening to their goals, and joining with them to provide motivation toward change.

Specialty Areas

  • I have provided clinical and programmatic leadership in all areas of chemical health; most notably in program development with adolescents and chronic adults, with dually diagnosed clients through the COSIG grant, and Motivational Interviewing training. I participated in the MN Summit on Alcohol and Other Drug Issues, which submitted a report of recommended actions to MN Legislators in 2005 and participated in the 2002 Summit for the MN Supreme Court on Innovative Judicial Interventions for chemical health.

Professional Experience

For more than twenty years, I have been involved with services to those with addictions, mental illness, and other human service areas. I currently supervise outpatient chemical health treatment programs. I also serve as Chair of the Chemical Health Action Collaborative for Washington County, serve on the Washington County Children and Families Council and direct a SAMHSA Drug Free Communities grant. Prior to my time at Canvas Health, I worked with Hazelden, Fairview and in the fields of corrections and social services.
