Professional Philosophy

As both a therapist and a sexual assault advocate I am committed to the belief that all people deserve to live free of violence and the fear of violence. I am invested in creating an environment where people can heal from their trauma. I strive to create an empowering, safe atmosphere that helps survivors and their families.

Specialty Areas

Trauma therapy for sexual and domestic violence victims and survivors. Specific areas of diversity expertise include: GLBTQ and women’s issues, multi-cultural experiences with a range of nationalities and cultures. I use a mixture of feminist therapy along with other anti-racist modalities.

I also specialize in providing advocacy for victim/survivors of sexual violence, primary prevention education for the prevention of sexual violence and counseling that is specific to victim/survivors and their families.

Professional Experience

I have been in trauma work for over 10 years working with victim/survivors of sexual assault. Outpatient general mental health therapy for 2 years. I am trained to work with all forms of mental health issues and needs.

Education

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in Gender, Women and Sexuality

Masters degree from St. Mary’s University Minnesota in Marriage and Family Therapy.
