Adult Substance Use Counselor
I believe in treating all clients with the dignity and respect they deserve. Each client deserves to be treated as a human being, with empathy, and without judgement. I believe each client is capable of overcoming substance use issues, and I strive to be a positive support that can help clients discover they’re not alone, and they’re capable.
I have experience working with adults with substance use disorders in a residential setting at my first internship, at Fairview Riverside’s Lodging Plus. These clients were a wide range of ages, from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and a variety of cultural backgrounds. I have experience working with justice-involved adults at my internship at Fairview Riverside’s Lodging Plus, my second internship at Canvas Health’s Cottage Grove IOP location, and my current location in Forest Lake. Many clients I’ve worked with often deal with co-occurring self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and other mental health symptoms.
I love the outdoors. Some of my favorite things to do are hike, camp, backpack, kayak/canoe, and rock climb. (I’ve been rock climbing for 17+ years!) I also love baking, puzzles, fantasy books, dogs, and turtles.
