Adult Day Treatment/Adult Group Therapy

Canvas Health offers several treatment programs for adults with significant mental health challenges. They include Adult Day Treatment and Group Therapy. Canvas Health currently offers Adult Day Treatment Programs at its Oakdale and North Branch clinics.

Adult Day Treatment

In some cases for those with significant mental health challenges, a period of intensive daily treatment is necessary to bring about meaningful change. Adult Day Treatment focuses both on the process of recovery as well as on the development of skills clients can use to cope with mental health symptoms.

Following graduation from our Connections or DBT Day Treatment program, all clients are encouraged to attend IOP aftercare groups. Please note: You do not have to complete Day Treatment to join IOP groups.

This program meets once per week for 1 hour per day. This program best fits clients who are typically lower-functioning and benefits from a slower –paced program. This is NOT for the developmentally delayed, based on client’s ability to process information, learn and retain skills. In this program you will learn DBT Skills and symptom management in a structured format.

DBT Skills Aftercare:
This program meets once per week for 1 ½ hours per day. This program best fits for adults who struggle with trauma, ineffective decision making, emotional dysregulation, and tolerating distress. DBT Skills are reviewed and reinforced at each session. Therapy is provided in a supportive, nonjudgement environment. Some experience with DBT concepts is helpful but not required. This is ideal for aftercare to DBT Adherent or DBT Day Treatment.

Symptom Management:
This group meets once per week for 1 or 1 ½ hour (s) per day. This is a support-based group for client’s struggling with mental health symptoms and co-occurring disorders. This group is focused on sharing experiences, problem solving, review of coping skills and general support. This group would benefit clients who are looking for more general peer support and review of skills learned in Day Treatment.
