Adult Intensive Services
Canvas Health offers several treatment programs for adults with significant mental health challenges. They include Adult Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient groups.
Adult Day Treatment
In some cases for those with significant mental health challenges, a period of intensive daily treatment is necessary to bring about meaningful change. Adult Day Treatment focuses both on the process of recovery as well as on the development of skills clients can use to cope with mental health symptoms.
There are three different types of Adult Day Treatment at Canvas Health:
Connections – This treatment focuses on teaching skills to cope with mental health symptoms. Illness management and recovery curriculum is used as well as support and validation.
Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment – This treatment integrates mental health and chemical dependency and emphasizes issues related to maintaining sobriety and relapse prevention.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – DBT is an evidence-based comprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment that emphasizes mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance. DBT is helpful for clients struggling with suicidal thoughts or other self-damaging behavior.
Adult Day Treatment takes place in groups of 8 to 16 people for 3 1/2 hours, meeting 3 to 5 times per week. Depending on the type of treatment, progress and insurance, treatment duration ranges from 12 to 20 weeks. Most Adult Day Treatment graduates transition into aftercare groups for a minimum of 4 months. Adult Day Treatment is covered by many insurance plans.
