Conference Objectives

During the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia: An introduction to Assessment and Treatment conference, participants will:

  • Learn the role and importance of behavioral health providers in the treatment of insomnia.
  • Learn the basics of sleep science.
  • Understand the pathogenesis of insomnia and current diagnostic criteria.
  • Know why CBT-i has been declared the first-line treatment for insomnia by multiple physician groups and government agencies.
  • Learn how to assess insomnia and conduct a differential diagnosis.
  • Be able to perform core CBT-i interventions within the standard protocol and when they are appropriate.
  • Apply the above knowledge in a “typical” presentation of an insomnia patient using appropriate case conceptualization and interventions.
