Outpatient Therapy: Adults

Counseling with adult outpatient services can provide the guidance and support that will help you through traumatic events and stressful periods in your life. Some of our counseling specialties include:

  • Relationship issues: marital and pre-marital couples therapy, communication skills, conflict resolution and sexuality issues
  • Mood/anxiety disorders: depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorders, panic attacks, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorders
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): state-certified, evidence-based DBT programming for adults and a modified program for adolescents
  • Anger management: group and individual therapy
  • Other: trauma related issues, foster care/adoption issues, adult ADHD, grief and loss, stress management, self-esteem, geriatric/aging, life transitions, and care for those in the LGBTQ+ community

Outpatient Therapy: Children, Adolescents, and Families

Children and adolescents, like adults, can benefit from counseling. Therapists can teach them how to develop problem-solving skills and help them cope with stress and a variety of emotional and behavioral issues. These kinds of therapies can address immediate concerns and also support a child in their development toward adulthood.

Many children, adolescents, and their families need help dealing with school stress, such as homework, test anxiety, bullying, or peer pressure. Others need help to discuss their feelings about family issues, particularly if there’s a major transition, such as a divorce, move, or serious illness.

Canvas Health’s skilled, caring clinicians handle all concerns related to family and child mental health services. We do full screenings and assessments, and provide case management to ensure that nothing falls through the cracks. Our continuum of care, which includes access to day treatment programs, substance use services, psychological testing and crisis services, provide you with a comprehensive and individualized team of treatment providers.

We can’t always change the circumstances life throws at us, but we can change how we respond to it. Sharing your story can open doors to understanding how you see yourself and the world. Many people carry pain from previous experiences into current situations, causing them to feel the pain again, even when they don’t need to. I will help you to cope with the pain you’re feeling and challenge those thought patterns to work towards relief of that pain. I use an interpersonal, narrative approach in therapy with many aspects of CBT incorporated to ensure clients have skills to face their life challenges.

Professional Experience

I have extensive training working with children and adolescents age 7+, especially those who either need or have needed out-of-home placement and/or psychiatric hospitalization. I have experience working directly with clients in residential treatment centers, psychiatric inpatient hospitals, inpatient substance abuse programs, day treatment settings, intensive in-home services, and outpatient programs. I also have extensive training conducting psychological assessment with individuals of all ages both for clinical/neurodevelopmental and forensic purposes. I treat individuals with depression, anxiety, trauma, psychotic disorders, relational and interpersonal difficulties, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, health conditions, parenting concerns, and attachment disorders. My psychotherapy training is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), interpersonal therapy, family therapy, Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP), and behavior therapy, among others.
