Alcohol and drug use is one of our nation’s most serious public health problems. Canvas Health’s counselors and treatment professionals are trained to provide intervention, support, and treatment to those struggling with alcohol or drug dependence.
If you are concerned about drug and alcohol use in yourself or someone you care about, some behaviors to look for include: drinking and driving, increased use of alcohol or drugs, becoming secretive or withdrawn about drinking and drug use, struggling with day-to-day activities at home and/or work, spending more time with friends who drink or use drugs than with family members, having money problems, borrowing money or running up charges on credit cards, or committing an alcohol or drug-related crime or crimes.
If you believe that you or someone you care about could benefit from outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol use, request an appointment at one of our clinic locations by calling (651) 777-5222.

Group/Individual Outpatient Treatment: Our New Choices for Recovery program helps adult men and women take action to change their thinking and behaviors to both prevent relapse and to form a more positive relationship with themselves, others and their community. Our approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which teaches those recovering from addiction and mental illness to find connections between their thoughts, feelings, and actions and increase awareness of how these things impact recovery. Our groups also use motivational interviewing and 12-step supports. Additionally, we address co-occurring mental health issues.
Our outpatient substance use services meet the high-quality standards of the state of Minnesota and have been licensed as a Minnesota “Rule 31” substance dependency program that is recognized by insurance companies.

Often those addicted to substances feel alone, the loved ones around him or her are significantly impacted as they watch their loved one become someone they do not know, they disappear before their eyes, only to be replaced by characteristics that lead to a devastating breakdown in their relationships. The energy is spent trying to figure out ways to save their addicted loved one. They progressively begin to fell hopeless and helpless.
Canvas Health treatment programs include family education. Meeting as a group once per week, with other families and treatment participants, they begin to reconnect and heal, they start to feel hopeful. Our goal is to bring the client and their family (loved ones) back together were they always wanted to be. Our weekly educational groups deliver the information and support to assist in developing an understanding of addiction and recovery. Individual family or couples therapy is available as well, for those who feel they may need extra support.
