I believe that client-centered care is extremely important when it comes to working with individuals that have been diagnosed with a substance use disorder. Recovery from addiction is a personal journey and I want my clients to know that they are not alone and together we will find what path of recovery works for them.

  • Using evidence best practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and twelve step facilitation especially promoting twelve step supports. I believe that providing client education on change thinking is imperative to maintaining long term recovery. I use these specialty areas in order for my clients to recognize the difference between thought patterns and this teaches them to be aware of when their “addict” is directing their thoughts as opposed to when their “recovery” is directing their thoughts.

Professional Experience

I am currently a licensed alcohol and drug counselor through the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health. I was an intern with Canvas Health from 2020-2021 and was hired as a counselor in June of 2021. I’m currently pursuing my Masters degree in Co-Occurring Disorders Recovery Counseling at Metropolitan State University.
