Psychotherapist
I believe that balance is a crucial part of a healthy and meaningful life. We all struggle at times with confusing or challenging feelings, and it’s okay to seek support. My aim is to help you find the balance you are seeking. My hope is that you can feel secure enough to be open about your concerns. Using a variety of therapeutic approaches, I can provide the insight and knowledge to help you reach your goals.
I love seeing people of all ages; adults, kids, couples and families.
Adlerian Psychotherapy:
Use of encouragement, address feelings of insecurity, develop feelings of connectedness, redirect striving for significance into more socially beneficial directions, challenge mistaken assumptions/attitudes/behaviors/feelings about self and the world, increase confidence, increase desire and ability to cooperate, replace exaggerated self-protection with courageous social contribution.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT):
An evidence-based training for parents and treatment for young children with emotional and behavioral disorders with a focus on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. A didactic approach to working with families where parents are initially taught relationship enhancement and discipline skills that they practice in session and at home with their child. (For kids ages 2 to 7 only)
Positive Discipline:
Focuses on teaching kids to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities by helping them feel a sense of connection (belonging and significance), parents being kind and firm at the same time to build mutual respect (considers what the child is thinking, feeling, learning, and deciding about themselves and their world).
I have been working at Canvas Health since 2012, first as an in-home skills worker (CTSS and ARMHS) and then transitioned into being a full-time psychotherapist in November 2016. I interned at the Adler Center for Family and Community and Additional Testing/Paterson Counseling Group between 2010 and 2012.
