Doctoral Psychology Intern
I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy. As such, I try to create a space where my clients feel respected and understood. My goal is to be collaborative and to interweave my clients’ identities and cultural values throughout the therapeutic process. I try to balance validating people’s emotions and exploring strategies and options to help my clients grow. I tailor evidence-based techniques (e.g., ACT, DBT, CBT) to my clients’ needs and values.
Because we are all coming from different places, I work with my clients to identify and eliminate as many barriers to care as possible. I believe all my clients have strengths, and rather than re-invent the wheel, my focus is to lean on the skills my clients already have to help them reach their full potential.
I am in my final year of doctoral training at the University of Augsburg. I have conducted therapy with young adults working through issues related to life transitions, suicidality, gender identity, sexual identity, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and trauma. I have also conducted assessments with children, adolescents and adults needing diagnostic clarification around neurodiversity, trauma, mood disorders, and co-occurring medical conditions.
My training in community mental health, college counseling, and private practice settings have prepared me to support people and families with a wide range of identities, experiences and goals. Providing care that is responsive to each person’s specific values and goals is my primary goal.
I love doing activities with my family and friends, like paddleboarding, hiking, watching TV shows, and trying new foods. When not with people, I enjoy hanging out with my two bunnies!
